Taking Care of your Car's Interior

While we give so much cognizance to ensuring that the 'essential' parts of our cars are in perfect conditions; we often neglect certain parts of the interior of the car. Inasmuch as we care about those parts that get the car moving on the road, we need not leave some parts [like the upholstery, carpets and such like] in a messy condition either. As such, we shall be sharing some tips on how you can keep your car's interior clean:

  • To get stains off the upholstery and carpets; you should mix vinegar and detergent in hot water, and then brush off the stains using a bristle brush. It is also important that you do not leave alcohol or beer to dry up [upon spilling] on the upholstery- you should apply cold water in order to dilute it.
  • For the greasy stain, apply cornmeal on the spot, and let this stay overnight. Thereafter, you can clean it up using a vacuum.
  • Use starch paste [made with cold water] to remove blood stains. Cover the stain with the paste, and allow it to get dry before brushing it off.
  • Ink stains can be really frustrating to get off the upholstery. However, hairspray can do a whole lot of good. All you need to do is to overlay the stain with some hairspray; allow it to get absorbed, and then get it off with a brush.
  • And you can make your car mats look new again by treating them with liquid shoe wax polish.
  • To prevent and/or curtail the chafing of your car's carpet, you should apply liquid resin to the edges and seams [of the carpet] in order to keep it in one piece.
  • You can restore the form of indented carpets by placing a wet towel over the point of indentation and then using a pressing to apply heat on the towel. The hollow should get covered up as the towel dries up.
